Jakarta, INDONESIA. Gree Energy, a leading biogas developer in emerging countries, is now B Corp certified!  As a B Corp, Gree Energy is counted among businesses that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Gree Energy joins a global community of businesses that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance.

Gree Energy now joins a global network of over 5,000 B Corporations including Patagonia and The Body Shop International that uses business as a force for good. The certification came after 18 months of rigorous assessment, guided by B Market Builder Southeast Asia (BMB SEA), an appointed Global Partner for ASEAN region by B Lab Global in 2022. At the moment, a total of 8 companies in Indonesia have successfully obtained the B Corp Certification, and Gree Energy is proud to take its part in leading the way of doing business, actively pursuing social and environmental impacts alongside financial goals.

Gree Energy empowers the food industry in emerging countries to cut methane emissions, treat wastewater, and create opportunities for clean energy in underserved rural communities.  Gree Energy makes biogas projects financially viable by unlocking the full potential of biogas. By 2030, Gree Energy aims to contribute to the SDGs through:

  • Reducing 11 million tons of CO2eq per year, equivalent to removing 2.3 million cars per year from the roads,
  • Treating 33 million people’s domestic waste equivalent per year.
  • Generating 570GWh/year of electricity, enough to supply 1 million people with clean and reliable energy.

To meet B Corp Certification’s high standards, Gree Energy has assiduously integrated into its operations social, environmental, and governance best practices to benefit all stakeholders including workers, communities, customers, suppliers, shareholders and the planet.  The company has also adopted B Corp’s robust framework to measure and publicly disclose its full impact.

The certification validates Gree Energy’s role as a trusted leader supporting food processors to achieve their decarbonization goals.  The company is committed to empowering and inspiring the wider sector to decarbonize and adopt greater accountability and transparency to all stakeholders.

“ESG is on the agenda of many companies, financiers, and policy makers. At Gree Energy, we also walk our talk.  We roll up our sleeves every day, working hard to deliver the positive impacts which are at the very core of our business model.  The independently verified B Corp label is a recognition of this effort.  It also provides an impetus for us to keep going and scale our impact.” Nicolas Stirer, CEO and founder of Gree Energy.
