Gree Energy, a leading biogas developer in emerging countries, has received the B20 Sustainability Award 4.0 as the runner up in the Clean Water Small Medium Enterprise (SME) category. The nominees in the category include Sago Mee, SIAB Indonesia and Komodo Water as the winner.

B20 Sustainability Award is a joint European-Indonesian project and a side event of B20 Indonesia 2022, the official G20 forum with the global business community initiated by Kadin Indonesia. The Awards Program is organized by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and co-organized by Kadin and Eurocham, along with partner chambers Britcham, Ekonid, Italian Business Association (IBAI) and France-Indonesie Indonesian-French Chamber (IFCCI). The award celebrates businesses and individuals that embed sustainable practices in their strategies and processes by embracing the environment and societies in their agenda.

Gree Energy helps food processors in emerging countries to unlock access to proven European technology, carbon credit markets and green financing. Gree Energy’s impact to contribute to the sustainable development goals are:

  • 333,000 populaton equivalent of domestic waste treated
  • 30,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions reduced per year, equivalent to 6,500 equivalent cars removed from the road
  • 9.8 GWh of electricity supplied to local grid per year, enough to supply 20,000 people with clean and reliable energy
